Fresenius Medical Care’s pediatric PD product range is especially designed to cover young patients’ needs. Minimized recirculation volume and precise fluid balancing are the key features of these products:
PD-Paed System
The PD-Paed System is a manual and gravity based system for clinical peritoneal dialysis in babies and small infants up to 10 kg of body weight. It is especially suitable to start treatment of chronic renal failure or acute renal failure. It allows exact fluid balancing thanks to a precise inflow and outflow burette. It has a minimal re-circulation volume and bears less risk steps due to proven PIN and stay•safe technology. With the help of the PD-Paed System PD therapy can be managed safely even through the opening of an incubator. The system allows the use of the pure bicarbonate buffered PD solution bicaVera with its excellent tolerability and biocompatibility.
sleep•safe
The sleep•safe is a PD cycler for automated peritoneal dialysis designed for use at home and in hospitals. Especially for children it offers:
- Special pediatric set (sleep•safe Set paed) available
- Low recirculation volume (15 ml only)
- Application of extremely small volumes (25ml only)
PD-NIGHT
PD-NIGHT is a cycler which works on the principle of gravity for infusion and drainage. We offer a special tubing set for children (PD-NIGHT Vario PLUS Paed System). Further advantages are:
- Low re-circulation volume (6.4 ml only)
- Simple structure and clearly arranged tubing set
- Easy handling by few operating elements
Pediatric software – included in PatientOnLine
PatientOnLine is a software tool that allows delivery of a high quality treatment for peritoneal dialysis patients. It can easily be customized for young patient’s needs. It allows to set prescriptions and has prescription limits for pediatric patients integrated, e.g. for smaller volumes. Furhtermore it also works with specific paediatric adequacy formulae, e.g. for body surface area or for body water. With PatientOnLine all medical and demographic data also from the paediatric patient can be stored and administrated.
Pediatric catheters
Special pediatric catheters are part of the Fresenius Medical Care peritoneal dialysis product range. They are characterized by an extra small diameter and are equipped with adjustable cuffs.
